The population is approximately 5,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>Winterton has a long history going back to Roman times and several large mosaic floors and other Roman remains have been found here. A roman mosaic was unearthed over 20 years ago and now resides in the Reception Area of Pittwood House (the Civic Centre for North Lincolnshire Council), on Ashby Road, Scunthorpe.<\/p>\n<p>Winterton Cemetery is owned by Winterton Town Council but North Lincolnshire Council are responsible for burials and ground plots.
